I feel I'm always asking for opinions when I make a post right now. But I'm looking to change my website a wee bit. If I'm honest I've never really been happy with it.
Would you mind taking a look at my new site and tell me what you think, I'm open to all opinions.

I really like the style and feel of this one but non of the links across the top work. Is it just that only the front page has been prepared so far?
I would also make the colour of your text every so slightly darker grey as it doesn't stand out as much as perhaps it should.
Feels a very professional site. Did you do it using a package or was it built for you?
Shaun.

I had it designed for me this time. Although I did a bit of web design in a past life, I didn't think at the moment it was the best use of my time. It's only the front page thats working right now, I want to be happy with the feel before getting the rest added. Obviously I'll pay istockphoto for the image when I'm happy thats the one I want and get the watermark removed.
Thanks for your views, I'll make some changes now.

I did think your old suit was adequate if I am being totally honest, but the new one is completely different. Unsure which one I prefer, I like both uuummm!!!
Yes I much prefer the new site - a lot easier on the eye - more white space and less clutter.
The only thing I might add is that you might want to put each section onto one page (i.e. to prevent viewers having to scroll up/down) but I am being a little picky. Excellent design and layout though so well done!
Peter - I do know where your coming from, but on clicking the testimonial will take you to a full page with more. Filling out the 3 questions on the form will take you to the second half of it on a new page. I was just trying to get as much of a grab on the main page as I could. Perhaps I can look at any other way I can do it, although I remember a time scrolling was bad, I think they days have gone.

I did smile though, I'm in the process of having a web site built and it will have one of those plastersine looking people, like your istockphoto image, i think they are good.
There is a point of having a lot of information on the main page. Google is not using metawords anymore but their spiders are crawling pages and extracting keywords from the page so more keywords (repeated a few times) will give you better google rankings in search results. Your old page ranks very good in google but once you change it to the new one it has to happen again. Crawling is continuous so your ranking can continuously change as well. Did you do any search engine optimisation on your old page? It comes up in search REALLY well (i searched for bookkeeper ayrshire-i believe most people would- and it works very well but if i use any of your metawords like certified bookkeeper ayrshire you are not on the first page of results anymore) Your new site has even more corporate look then the old one...I like it
I did do a bit of work, but around the keywords "fixed price bookkeeper" I have never used or aimed at the word certified. Bookkeeper Ayrshire, and Bookkeeping Ayrshire have just happened really. I never purposely set out for them either.

please tell me your secret! fixed price bookkeeper works really well as well. your site has metawords attached to it which i had a look and searched for the words and obviously it is not why your ranking is so good because most of them don,t seem to work. I am well impressed about your search results, Kris. the meta NAME seems to be working fine (KM Bookkeeping Services are a firm of Ayrshire Bookkeepers, offering a range of fixed price bookkeeping services to small businesses in Ayrshire and the surrounding area.)
The only thing I really did was target one key phrase per page. Fixed Fee Bookkeeper was the initial one I targeted. I'm fairly high for that. Then Bob Harper told me I'd do better targeting fixed price bookkeeper, so I gave that a go with another page.

For this (fixed price bookkeeper) you came up first in google for me. My personal opinion is people search for their local area for bookkeeper this is why I searched for ayrshire bookkeeper. So far the only page i looked at/searched for which works really well. I think if you don,t come up in the first few in search results then just wasted your time on a webpage (people will search for a bookkeeper not for x bookkeeping services) and this what happens to lots of sites-not to yours. I hope i will be able to achieve the same in my area...

mine seems to be coming up well with the phrase "bookkeeper bristol", I tried to put as many words in as I could, for google to find. Most people are finding me on google.
Yes, yours is very good as well especially as you are in Bristol ( I would think there is lots of bookkeepers there) and still it comes up first half of the first page and first on google maps. It just proves it is possible and still a lot of people not doing it right so they are wasting their efforts on a web page. Hope i will manage with mine..
